What is banner and button advertising?

Each time that a page of our website – showing your advert banner, box or button for the viewer (called a user) of that page to look at – it is called an impression. Advertising campaigns are sold in batches of 1,000 impressions (CPM) and you can buy as many CPM as you like for any campaign.

(Please note that although click-thrus can be tracked, that we do not sell online advertising by click-through rate.)

How is my advert server up to the user?

All of our CPM campaigns are served by an independant third party, ABSOL, to give you peace-of-mind and trackability.

ABSOL has been providing an independant, verifiable advertising server service that gives all of the applicable statistics needed, for more than a decade and was originally one of the ad servers and statics providers for a number of the large newspaper groups in South Africa before the newspapers brought in their own advertising server / statistics service, the Online Publishers Association (OPA).

We can offer our advertisers excellent rates per CPM because we can still offer tracked, independant third-party advertising serving without having to cover the large costs of running an OPA system.

(Rates are only offered for campaigns that are fully paid for BEFORE 01 May 2010.)

Header banner (468p x 600p) R250 CPM
Right-hand column box (300p x 300p) R250 CPM
Right-hand column half-box (300p x 150p) R175 CPM
Far-right tower (120p X 600p) R200 CPM
Inner-right box buttons (150p x 150p) R125 CPM
Inner-right half-box buttons (150p x 80p) R80 CPM
Banner space at bottom of individual posts (468p x 60p) R150 CPM

Costs

- Impressions are bought in batches of 1,000.
- The minimum is only 1,000 impressions.
- There is a setup up fee per campaign of R120. (No VAT at this stage.)
- There is no minimum amount that must be spent before a campaign is run. (Some newspaper sites will not entertain your business unless you spend more than R5,000! We want your business, no matter how small your campaign is.)

For example, you want 5,000 impressions of your banner advertisement placed in the Header Banner position. This will cost you:
- 5 x R250 plus
- R120 setup.
Total = R1,370.

Payment

We ask that with all first-time advertisers with us, that the fees owing are paid in full before the campaign is loaded. Once a campain has been decided on, an invoice will be sent to you for payment.
