Editorial/advertising policy
One of the objectives of us running this website is for it to become a place where South African entrepreneurs can get solid, well thought-through information that is both relevant and useful to them – rather than being a dumping ground for jargon-heavy press releases or long-winded, whinging blog sessions, as so many Internet offerings have become these days!
To prevent dissapointment, please don’t send us ‘extensively protracted electronic communications extolling the plentiful virtues of the dynamically different and brilliantly new, fabulous delights’ (I think you’re getting the drift to keep it short and simple here??) – of your product; such as a kiddies teething ring!
Yes, we would like to hear from you about what is happening. Please bear in mind when submitting something to us, that we do have different sections and that what you send may be considered only for our paid Companies section.
Here are some guidelines to assist you with your submissions:
1. Look through the different sections of the site to see where your submissions would fit in best. For example: a sales pitch / press release trying to get published space to sell your kiddies teething ring will get your submission dumped into the bin; a run-down of your new franchise to attract new franchisees to make kiddies teething rings would go well in the companies section; and information about a new type of franchise model that you are implementing for your kiddies teething ring product will get you an article on the front page!
2. Consider our target market. We are here for entrepreneurs – so look at what might interest them.
3. Cut the sales speak and pr jargon! (Ps. If the editor gets an item with words such as ’synergy’, ‘impact’, ‘dynamic’ etc she is likely to tear it up in a frenzy.) Just tell us your story in simple language. (In English or Afrikaans for now. Hopefully later, we will have other South African languages as well.)
4. Where the item is basically advertising – be prepared to pay for it’s publication. After all, you would do so for a print publication.
5. The editor gets to make the decision about what goes onto the site. That’s it!
If you are not certain whether you have something interesting for us or not, then please do drop us a line at: editor@2bbusiness.co.za. We are always on the look out for good content, no matter whether it is a snippet of news, an idea, a blog thought or a full-length article.
